Foxboro review + Bon Jovi/Dierks Bentley duet from HullabaLOU

Here's a review of Bon Jovi's July 24, 2010 show in Foxborough by Matt Kakley for the Sun Chronicle:
It's hard to think of a band more synonymous with summer stadium shows than Bon Jovi, and the band's performance Saturday in front of a sold-out Gillette Stadium did nothing to give that reputation a bad name.

Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and crew commanded the audience's attention for the 2-hour, 30-minute set with an ease that was awe-inspiring.

And this is a video of "Wanted Dead or Alive" from the HullabaLOU music festival in Louisville on July 23. The performance featured country singer Dierks Bentley. Thoughts?

  1. I was at the show. :-) Musical quality-wise, Dierks Bentley doing this song wasn't that great (it's just not meant to be sung in that lower octave). HOWEVER, he seemed to be so genuinely happy to be up there with them that I give him a pass. He mentions that he had the line "in his yearbook." Apparently, he was talking about the "sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink" line. He also talked earlier at the festival when he was playing about Bon Jovi being his first concert. So, I think he was very excited to get to be up there with them.

But, yeah, musically, not so much. :-)
