Boston set list

Bon Jovi kicked off March with a trip to Boston. This was an interesting set. They played some awesome stuff including "Love's the Only Rule" from the maligned The Circle, but completely overlooked the new songs from the Greatest Hits. Oh, and in bad news, it looks like Jon's entered another "I Love This Town" phase. :P

  1. is the circle maligned? I thought it was well received in general by the fanbase?

  2. Well, yes and no. It's still a favourite of mine and plenty of others, but the initial shine has gone off for a lot of people and I know there were fans who felt from the beginning that the band was cashing in on the economic downturn. Still, perhaps "overlooked" would have been a better choice of words there.

  3. Ok cut him a break, the East Coast is his favorite places to perform, forgive him maybe he really "Loves this Town"? I don't mind it live, it gets the crowd going. Of course I'm biased I go to the NY shows (where he does love that town)....He better play Just Older on Saturday, My favorite song and I've never heard it live.....How about a plug to Jon, like you did for These Days last week, for a loyal reader of your blog Please PLAY JUST OLDER ON SATURDAY GUYS!....-Linn in Connecticut

  4. Perhaps the album would still have the shine if the band played it's guts out on stage ala LH or KTF albums! I don't think they were cashing in on any economic downturn at all, that situation is gonna spur creativity so they were bound to get writing on the topic.

  5. Linn - I'm not saying Jon doesn't love the towns/cities he's playing in, but just as he can play whatever he wants because it's his set, I'm simply expressing my dislike for the song on my blog. ;) I don't think my shout-out of These Days had anything to do with them playing it but I'll mention it anyway. :)

Anonymous - I agree completely. The band gave up on the album far too easily.
