Rafael Luz is a teenage guitarist from Brazil who shot to fame in the Bon Jovi community after recording a solo for "We Weren't Born to Follow" that inspired Richie Sambora to add his own solo to the album version of the song.
Well, Rafael's back. :) Check out his cover of Bon Jovi's latest single "What Do You Got". His version includes an extended guitar solo ending that rocks up the song a little.
Hope Jon see this again
ReplyDeleteI wonder sometimes if Richie's gotten tired of the traditional solo (hence all the more restrained slide stuff recently).
ReplyDeleteRichie did once say something about having played so many notes over the years that he doesn't feel the need for so many solos. That being said, we all breathed a sigh of relief when he rerecorded WWBTF so fingers crossed the power of JoviNation will make them see sense! Btw, Rafael Rocks!
ReplyDeleteHis wwbtf solo was good but I don't think this adds anything to the song at all as he is just trying to fill space with guitar rather then trying to bring something important to the emotion of the song. I think with Richie he is trying to be too particular with his note playing with Bon Jovi at the moment. His solo on 'I have to Thank you' is far more energized and not so structured.
ReplyDeleteThe WWBTF solo wouldn't have even been necessary had they not had Jon saying 'guitar!' before the break. When you say 'guitar!' there should probably be a ripping solo and not a nice melodic break. I think had that not been there, the original section would've been OK.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I'm always glad to hear Richie rip it up.
