New Year's Eve B-roll

Jon Bon Jovi's first movie in five or so years, New Year's Eve opens this week. Some of his scenes feature in the following B-roll videos.

And here's an interview with Jon about his character Jensen, director Garry Marshall, and his idea of new year's eve.

This isn't normally the kind of movie I'd pay to see, but I'll check it out this month. I enjoyed Love Actually, maybe I'll like this too. :)

JBJ on the Soul Kitchen, Katherine Heigl on JBJ

There was a nice Associated Press article overnight about the recently opened Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen.
In three decades as one of the world's biggest rock stars, Jon Bon Jovi has eaten in some of the world's best restaurants, savoring the best food the planet has to offer.

Yet there's no place he'd rather have dinner than The Soul Kitchen, a "pay-what-you-can" restaurant he and his wife Dorothea established in a former auto body shop near the Red Bank train station in central New Jersey.
Read the rest of the article here.

Meanwhile, Katherine Heigl has talked about locking lips with Jon in New Year's Eve.
"I play a young woman who's a caterer and she's catering the New Year's Eve party and event," she explained. "Jon plays my big, famous musician ex-fiance who comes back into town to sort of win me back."

And then Heigl beamed, "Yes, I made out with him!"

How was it?

"It's always so nerve-wracking," she said. "There's all the giggles and there's all the Altoid popping."

And Bon Jovi couldn't have been more of a gentleman. "He's just a gem," Heigl said. "One of the nicest guys ever."

Rock Hall snub + new New Year's Eve trailer

Last year Bon Jovi was surprisingly nominated for the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and unsurprisingly not inducted.

This year, they have not been nominated at all. The 2012 nominees are:
  • Beastie Boys

  • The Cure

  • Donovan

  • Eric B. & Rakim

  • Guns N' Roses

  • Heart

  • Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

  • Freddie King

  • Laura Nyro

  • Red Hot Chilli Peppers

  • Rufus with Chaka Khan

  • The Small Faces/The Faces

  • The Spinners

  • Donna Summer

  • War

  • I recommend we all get used to this. Bon Jovi might be inducted someday but it won't be anytime soon.

Whatever... the Rock Hall's for music snobs anyway. :P

In other news, another trailer for Jon's upcoming film New Year's Eve has been released.

The first trailer can be found at this link.

New Year's Eve featurette + MDA Telethon interview

Here's the official featurette for New Year's Eve, Jon Bon Jovi's upcoming movie.

Still not sure what to make of it; it's one of those concepts that could be either good or awful. I just hope it's better than Jon's last few movies.

Meanwhile, here's an interview that Entertainment Tonight did with Richie Sambora backstage from the MDA Telethon.

JBJ / Lea Michele duet + Ava's movie debut

Jon Bon Jovi and Lea Michele both star in New Year's Eve, which is due for release in December. Director Garry Marshall has previously said that New Year's Eve will feature a duet between Jon and Lea, and the first pictures of said duet have now been released.

    Jensen and Elise

Any guesses on what they might be singing?

Meanwhile, the now-13-year-old daughter of Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear is making her acting debut. Ava Sambora will have a role in a new Judd Apatow comedy.

Jon Bon Jovi to duet with Glee star Lea Michele

New Year's Eve director Garry Marshall has revealed that JBJ and Glee's Lea Michele (aka "Rachel Berry") will sing together in the film:
Although it's not a musical, Lea Michele will sing in the upcoming New Year's Eve, her first big-screen movie. Director Garry Marshall told Broadway.com that the Glee star and Broadway favorite will perform at least two songs in the still-filming feature, including a big duet with co-star Jon Bon Jovi. "It's quite a number," he said.

Marshall had high praise for Michele's work on the film. “Lea is just terrific,” he said. “You know, she’s from the Bronx and so am I!” In the ensemble film, Michele plays Elise, a back-up singer for Jensen, a rock star played by actual rocker Bon Jovi.
Read the rest of the article on Broadway.com.

I know the show tends to spark some pretty strong reactions and quite a few rockers have expressed their dislike for it, but I'm a bit of Gleek and Lea is amazing so I'm interested to see what they do in the movie.

This is Lea in action on a recent episode of Glee:

I've also posted Glee's Bon Jovi covers in an earlier post.

Robert Kantor Guitars has been commissioned to create a guitar for White Trash Beautiful, Richie Sambora's clothing line. Check out the WTB Black Dog Tele Deluxe here.

(Thanks to Imp for dropping this in my inbox.)

In other news, Jon Bon Jovi was set to play Halle Berry's ex in his return to acting but Berry has dropped out of New Year's Eve due to personal reasons. She has been replaced with Katherine Heigl. The movie, which reportedly began filming this week, is a follow-up to Valentine's Day.
