If the name Jon Bon Jovi still brings to mind big hair, leather pants, and "Livin' on a Prayer," well it's time to fast forward about 25 years. The lead singer of the legendary Jersey pop metal band Bon Jovi is now nearly 50 years old and has just taken on a new gig … as an Advil spokesperson. (Hey, ever meet someone approaching the big 5-0 who doesn't have a few aches and pains?)You can read the rest of the article here and check out Jon's ad on the Advil website.
The makers of Advil hooked up with Jon after he injured his calf muscle while performing on stage last year and he later revealed in an interview that he relies on the pain reliever to get through the inevitable discomfort that comes with a job that frequently involves singing and dancing at stadium-sized performances.
"I'm sort of an athlete, up on stage," Jon said during a behind-the-scenes interview for the 30-second TV ad, which was shot at the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen, a community kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey, which provides meals to those in need.

JBJ surgery details + Richie's girlfriend hits out
A couple of news bits I figured I should post ahead of Bon Jovi's first show in Turkey since the Keep the Faith/I'll Sleep When I'm Dead Tour.
First of all, Jon had surgery on his injured knee in Dublin on July 1, then reportedly spent some time recuperating in Iceland. Anyway, here's what the surgeon had to say:
Meanwhile, Richie Sambora's female companion Yasmin Mitri has posted the following on Twitter (assuming this is in fact her):
Looking forward to Istanbul though. Been an interesting week so it'll be nice for a concert to take centre stage again. ;)
First of all, Jon had surgery on his injured knee in Dublin on July 1, then reportedly spent some time recuperating in Iceland. Anyway, here's what the surgeon had to say:
Ray Moran, Director of Medicine at the Sports Surgery Clinic performed the operation to repair the cartilage ligament damage.
"Jon has spent the last two weeks performing with a knee brace and five concerts with a locked knee, which would have limited his mobility greatly and been very painful," explained Moran. "Having had the cartilage damage repaired he can continue with his tour schedule with significantly increased mobility."
Meanwhile, Richie Sambora's female companion Yasmin Mitri has posted the following on Twitter (assuming this is in fact her):
yasminmitri Yasmin MitriI just want people to know I have never made any interviews about Richie. I deny all the allegations about me. It's all Speculation.
The Twitter account was private until a few days ago and there aren't many tweets on there, though there is a casual mention of seeing Bon Jovi ahead of Hard Rock Calling. That doesn't really mean anything though, and trust isn't really a word one would associate with News of the World. I know some Bon Jovi fans have taken to abusing Yasmin online and I have to say I find that quite sad, regardless of what people might think of her for whatever reasons.yasminmitri Yasmin MitriNews of the World have no proof of anything and are very well known for being scam. I hate drugs and everyone who knows me knows that.

Richie Sambora's Brazilian; JBJ's knee
I was going to post the videos from Bon Jovi's Dublin concerts that I didn't get a chance to put up over the weekend... but first, I can't really ignore this story anymore.

Richie is apparently dating a UK-based Brazilian model/actress named Yasmin Mitri. And after an apparent News of the World sting, various news and gossip sites have been pushing headlines like "Bon Jovi guitarist's girlfriend is a high-class drug-dealing prostitute" or words to that effect. I've pulled Yasmin's alleged quotes which have appeared all over the web...
On drugs:
On Richie:
On how she met Richie:
News of the World is a tabloid and every other news outlet is simply quoting that original article so I'm not really sure what to make of this. And at any rate, they are both consenting adults so who are we to judge?

On drugs:
‘I like coke. I started doing it five months ago. It's £50 a gram. You have to order two grams.
‘If you order some now, it'll be twenty minutes.’
On Richie:
She said: ‘My boyfriend is a famous musician. Do you know Bon Jovi band? Richie Sambora?
‘I've been with him for over a year and a half. He lives in LA but we speak to each other all the time and he sends me presents.’
On how she met Richie:
‘Richie came up and asked me the time. It was a silly chat-up line and I had no idea who he was. I'd never heard any of his music.
‘He looked hot though and came and sat next to me and we got on really well.
‘I went back to his room with my friend. He asked me to stay the night with him but I refused.'
However, Sambora asked a a member of his entourage to get her number and rang to ask for a date.
We met up and he introduced me to Jon Bon Jovi and all the band.
‘Back in his hotel room, Richie and I drank four bottles of champagne and I had sex with him.
‘It was great and he was a good lover. He started calling and texting me all the time and our relationship became really close.'

Jon's knee surgery went great. All is well - it'll take a lot more than that to slow him down. Next stop Istanbul! -Matt BongioviIndeed. Can't wait for July 8, 2011. ;)

Jon Bon Jovi on his injury and Clarence Clemons
This was posted on Bon Jovi's Facebook page after the Horsens concert (June 19):
If you haven't seen them, I previously posted videos of Jon's knee injury in Helsinki and Bon Jovi's cover of Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.
Hi guys - everything went fine last night in Denmark, just a little soreness. The brace takes the pressure off but it's just a precaution until the surgery next month. We're moving forward as usual.
However, as we continue on, it was also important to us to honor our friend Clarence Clemons. His passing is a sad loss and we wanted to honor him, his family, his bandmates and his many friends. Our performance of “10th Avenue Freeze Out” was from all of us, as your fans. -jbj

Jon Bon Jovi's knee injury in Helsinki
Jon strained the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his knee during Bon Jovi's Helsinki Olympic Stadium concert on June 17, as I mentioned in the last post.
This is the moment it happened, midway through Love's the Only Rule. Jon lets out a yell at about 0:28 and grabs his leg.
Jon gingerly makes his way out to the circle. He's in obvious discomfort at the end of Love's the Only Rule and the start of When We Were Beautiful.
This isn't the first time Jon's hurt himself this tour, having also torn his calf at the new Meadowlands Stadium in July 2010. To his credit, he didn't skip a beat then either.

Jon Bon Jovi calf injury
As has been mentioned, Jon injured himself during Bon Jovi's Meadowlands Stadium "grand finale", which turned out to be a fizzer.
He hurts it about a minute into this video of "Glad All Over". Maybe because I knew it was coming, but I actually winced.
You can see Jon struggling in this one too.
