JBJ gets COVID, show gets canned

As you've probably heard by now, Jon Bon Jovi tested positive to COVID-19 during the Runaway Tours Halloween trip to Miami.

JBJ and the Kings of Suburbia each took a rapid antigen test for COVID before their concert and Jon's came back positive, resulting in the decision to cancel his gig at Loews South Beach. Jon had been at the Halloween costume party the night before, dressing up as Gomez Addams and posing for photos with fans, so that was some cause for concern too. But at least Jon is double-vaxxed and was reportedly feeling fine.

Here's the moment Matt Bongiovi came out and broke the news to the waiting crowd:

COVID previously touched the Bon Jovi camp last year, with David Bryan and Everett Bradley getting it fairly early on in the pandemic. Jon posted a short video on social media to mark Day 6 of his quarantine period, confirming he was feeling okay and urging people to take the virus seriously.

Runaway Tours has since confirmed that fans who went on the trip will get a full refund.

Anyway, I'm glad Jon seems to have had mild symptoms, and I hope everyone who was in attendance is fine too. COVID flipping sucks.

Not sure if/when things are going to get back to "normal" around the world, but when Bon Jovi the band were the surprise guests at a private event for trucking executives in October, I allowed myself to dream of an upcoming tour. It all feels an extremely long way off though. 😔

Oh, by the way... that book I talked about in an earlier post? Black and Blue is a contemporary coming-of-age story written by, um, me! The main character loves Bon Jovi and the book is out now.

Find Black and Blue at your preferred online retailer if you're so inclined. Thank you for indulging my shameless plug and goodnight. 😀

Jon Bon Jovi debuts THINFS bonus tracks; teases Australia/Japan tour

This is kind of a "catch up on things I didn't have time to post about before" post before the resumption of the This House Is Not For Sale Tour.

First of all, Jon Bon Jovi did a solo Runaway Tours show at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on February 26, 2018. I know that was over a fortnight ago, but hey, I was busy. I don't always post about the Runaway Tours gigs but this one was worth mentioning because it included the live debuts of This House Is Not For Sale bonus tracks "I Will Drive You Home" and "Color Me In".

Here's "Living in Sin" and "Color Me In":

Jon also attempted "Silent Night" but couldn't remember any of it. 😁

He seemed to get emotional when talking about how hard he's working on his voice in response to a fan's question:

I didn't see a video of "I Will Drive You Home" from this show, but Jon did perform it again at a Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation benefit concert at New York's Tarrytown Music Hall on March 4. Here's a partial video of "I Will Drive Your Home" from that show:

JBJ & Friends played "Color Me In" again at the benefit show, which I'm going to post because it's a pretty good video:

Jon confirmed during the Vegas gig that there'd be no European tour this year (which we'd kind of figured out). He did casually mention going to Australia and Japan when interviewed by ExtraTV (on the red carpet for the recent iHeartRadio Music Awards) though:

Anyway, the Bon Jovi tour kicks off again tonight in Denver.

An evening with Jon Bon Jovi Las Vegas set list 25/2/14

Jon Bon Jovi played an acoustic "storytellers" gig as part of a Runaway Tours fan club trip to Las Vegas on February 25. I'm not sure if any videos will pop up as it was a private gig, but here's what was played:

Las Vegas, NV, USA - Hard Rock Cafe - February 25, 2014
  1. Every Word Was a Piece of My Heart
  2. Superman Tonight
  3. With These Two Hands
  4. It's My Life
  5. When We Were Beautiful
  6. Open All Night
  7. Can't Help Falling in Love [Elvis Presley cover]
  8. Amen
  9. Thick as Thieves
  10. (You Want To) Make a Memory
  11. The Fighter

Jon reportedly said during a Q&A that he had been, as we all suspected, the one who pushed for a new album and tour in 2013, but that all the guys committed to it before they went ahead. He also apparently said even if this was the end of the band, it's been a good 30 years, which is not to say it is the end. But it might be a much longer break this time.

Were you at the show?
