Phil X thanks Bon Jovi fans

As Bon Jovi prepares to take a break during August, Phil X has thanked fans for their support. The past tense of this tweet has naturally led to speculation that he won't be playing on the rest of the tour. It's also possible he just doesn't know at this stage whether he'll be tapped for the next leg, which doesn't start until September, and the six-week break is a good time to say thanks if MetLife Stadium ends up being his last Bon Jovi gig. Throughout the tour, he has avoided answering questions about any future Bon Jovi shows (i.e. beyond the current leg) that he may or may not be at.

To add further fuel to the fire, September is the tentative return date Richie Sambora offered RumorFix (although he later tweeted that those were just his "hopes" and nothing was happening yet), while Phil's wife is due to give birth to their first child in October.

Any tips on who might be on lead guitar for the rest of the tour if Phil and Richie are unavailable?

  1. I don't know. Is The Edge busy at the moment?

  2. Jon is screwed. High profile guitarists wouldn't want to work with Bon Jovi. I guess from now on it's Kings of Suburbia instead of Bon Jovi...lol Bobby and Jon will share lead guitar duty...which is basically a nightmare for fans with tickets for future shows.
Sad to see this once great band in the toilet.

  3. Among all these odd comments (go and mess up your own id) that anything wouldn't be okay with the recent setlists why does Richard not come back for a good time of a kind of rebirth and the sweet angel comes down twice in the lap of a completed family.... any high guitar playing woman around?

  6. The shows are amazing with PhilX or with Richie. The thing is that fans have come to know the band as the Bon Jovi Experience. It would be hard to see the Rolling Stones without Keith even though Mick Jagger is the main attraction. Or if the Beatles were around Paul without John. But with that being said PhilX was a great temporary replacement. I think they did the right thing by continuing the tour. It seems so abrupt that Richie decided to pull the plug. And at that moment should they have canceled all the shows? Jon puts on a spectacular performance. And if you close your eyes and listen to the music while you are the show, you probably wouldn't know the difference in the guitar sounds. The vocals of course you would. And don't underestimate Bobby Bandieri - he is a heck of a musician and singer. Saying that high-profile guitarists wouldn't want to work with Jon is rather shallow. If you are a musician I would think that you would WANT to tour with the NUMBER ONE selling band of the year. They have offered money back to the people who are upset about Richie too. Love the comment about Slash. LoL - Pam
