Run Rudolph Run by Jon Bon Jovi and the Philly Specials / Don't Wake Up Dead by Phil X and the Drills

 

I've always referred to this song as "Run Run Rudolph" but it's actually called "Run Rudolph Run". Whoops.

Anyway, Jon Bon Jovi joined The Philly Specials (a group of Philadelphia Eagles football players who also sing, something I did not know about until recently, being from Australia) for a cover of the Chuck Berry classic. Phil X played the guitar solo.

New Drills single I Love You On Her Lips

Phil X & The Drills have dropped a new single, "'I Love You' On Her Lips" -- and here's the lyric video:

 

The song is heavier than anything Bon Jovi would do, but it's on brand with what I'd expect from Phil when left to his own devices. That CGI woman creeped me out a little though... Her movements are so zombie-like, but maybe that was the point. 😅

Phil X & The Drills are Right on the Money

Earlier in June, Phil X & The Drills released a new single, "Right on the Money" through Golden Robot Records.

The official video for "Right on the Money" is a sign of the times... It edits together the musicians' separate performance videos (since they couldn't film together due to COVID-19) as well as videos submitted by fans:

You might even recognise some of these fans from the Bon Jovi tour. 😉

Phil X & the Drills video Too Much For My Own Good

Phil X and the Drills have released their music video for "Too Much For My Own Good" featuring Taylor Hawkins (best known as the drummer for the Foo Fighters). The song is from the Drills' EP Stupid Good Lookings, Vol. 1, which came out in May this year.

New Drills EP Stupid Good Lookings Vol. 1 out now

Way before Phil X was in Bon Jovi, he was making music as the lead singer and guitarist of Phil X & The Drills. And he still is. 🙂 They recently released a new EP, Stupid Good Lookings, Vol. 1.

It features Daniel Spree on bass and backing vocals, as well as a bunch of notable guest drummers: Taylor Hawkins, Abe Laboriel Jr, Glen Sobel, Randy Cooke, Brent Fitz, and Matt Chamberlain.

You can get Stupid Good Lookings, Vol. 1 on iTunes, Amazon, or Google Play. CD and vinyl versions are set to be available soon.

What do you think of the new EP? Obviously it's different to anything Phil is likely to do with Bon Jovi, but we've always known that. 😉 I'm enjoying it at the moment.
