Bon Jovi in Las Vegas 25/2/17

Between the last show in Dallas and this one in Las Vegas, it was announced that Bon Jovi's concert in Denver -- originally scheduled for 14 March 2017 -- had been postponed to 14 April due to a "scheduling conflict". While there's nothing else on at the Pepsi Center on 14 March, there is a basketball game on the 13th and an ice hockey match on the 15th, so the conflict may have something to do with loading in and out and setting up the stage.

Anyway, here's what Bon Jovi played when the This House Is Not For Sale Tour hit Las Vegas:

Set list: Las Vegas, NV, USA - T-Mobile Arena - 25 February 2017

We got arguably the first big surprise of the tour in "I Got the Girl". Jon's daughter Stephanie, whom the song was written about, was at the show, and Jon got her up on stage to dance.

Jon Bon Jovi's daughter arrested

Reports of Stephanie Bongiovi's arrest for drug possession after a suspected heroin overdose has been the big news in Jovi Land today:
Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested at her college in Upstate New York early this morning after allegedly overdosing on heroin ... TMZ has learned.

According to the Town of Kirkland Police Department, cops responded to a dorm room at Hamilton College after someone reported that Stephanie had allegedly overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive.

Along with police, emergency medical personnel also responded to the scene and found Stephanie alive.

Cops say a drug task force searched the scene and found a "small quantity" of heroin ... along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
You can read more at TMZ (and pretty much every other news/gossip site).

In my opinion, the news has brought out an ugly side of the Bon Jovi fan base. While I don't think the all-gushing "JBJ and family can do no wrong", "Please pray for this poor angel" types are particularly helpful, the more sinister judgmental reactions I've seen are worse. People are so often quick to judge without knowing the whole story. Even more so when it's someone like Stephanie, whom we actually know very little about except that she's the only daughter of a very wealthy rock star -- an easy person to stereotype.

Secondly, people supposedly much older and wiser make silly mistakes every day. Many are also quite open about dabbling in drugs. There is a distinction to be made between, say, smoking pot on occasion and getting into something as hard as heroin. But I still don't understand people justifying their own drug use in the same breath as they condemn Stephanie or revel in what has happened to her with holier-than-thou condescension, e.g. "Yeah I've done XYZ drugs and it was cool but I would never touch heroin because I'm not retarded". Huh?!

Then again, perhaps I'd be less confused if I wasn't a non-drinker and non-smoker who's never so much as touched a Panadol in her life. :P

ADDENDUM: Charges against Stephanie and the guy who was arrested with her have reportedly been dropped thanks to New York's 911 Good Samaritan laws which are designed to allow overdose victims to get emergency help without fear of criminal charges.

Hangin' with the Bongiovi kids

A couple of stories on Jon Bon Jovi's two eldest children.

Hamptons Magazine did a little interview with Stephanie, who's now 17 and working at the Blue Parrot.
Does dad have an influence on your music tastes?
I’ve always loved The Beatles; my dad had me singing to their music when I was a little kid. I even have their old vinyl records, which I still play.

What do the Bongiovi’s do together as a family activity?
Every Tuesday night, we watch Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel.

Meanwhile, Page Six (New York Post) reports that Jesse James got to meet NBA basketballer Dwyane Wade:
Bon Jovi drove his 15-year-old son to Southampton restaurant Madame Tong's Redeux to meet Wade at a dinner hosted by Hamptons media mogul Jason Binn. A source told us: "Jesse is a big Wade fan. He and Jon spent a lot of time talking to Wade and his girlfriend Gabrielle Union."

White Trash Beautiful's UK launch

Ava Sambora modelled the new White Trash Beautiful fashion line at its Los Angeles debut in March, and it was Stephanie Rose Bongiovi's turn at the UK launch last night:
JON Bon Jovi played proud dad last night as daughter Stephanie Rose took to the catwalk for the launch of Richie Sambora's new fashion range White Trash Beautiful.
Stephanie Rose - who bares a striking resemblance to her rocker dad Jon Bon Jovi - made daddy proud as she modelled clothes from Richie Sambora's collection.
