Jon did a Facebook live Q&A earlier this month in which he compared the new album to Have a Nice Day and These Days. You could hear "Have a Nice Day" in "This House Is Not For Sale" and perhaps in "Knockout", so I'm guessing "Labor of Love" is one of the songs Jon is thinks would fit on These Days. It reminds me of some of the songs from Burning Bridges personally, and maybe a bit of Destination Anywhere.

Received a message saying the line I had as "I wanna die in your arms here when you say my name" should be "I wanna die in your arms HEARING you say my name". This makes more sense so I've corrected it above. ;)

ReplyDeleteWhen something is a labour of love, it means you have put hard work into it because you enjoy it, and not for any other reward. The previous lines in the chorus allude to the idea that relationships require a lot of work in order to be successful. But by finishing with "Baby this ain't working, it's a labor of love", I think the narrator is saying that they are happy to put that effort into the relationship 24/7, and it doesn't feel like work.
