Bon Jovi in Las Vegas 25/2/17

Between the last show in Dallas and this one in Las Vegas, it was announced that Bon Jovi's concert in Denver -- originally scheduled for 14 March 2017 -- had been postponed to 14 April due to a "scheduling conflict". While there's nothing else on at the Pepsi Center on 14 March, there is a basketball game on the 13th and an ice hockey match on the 15th, so the conflict may have something to do with loading in and out and setting up the stage.

Anyway, here's what Bon Jovi played when the This House Is Not For Sale Tour hit Las Vegas:

Set list: Las Vegas, NV, USA - T-Mobile Arena - 25 February 2017

  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love a Bad Name
  4. Lost Highway
  5. Whole Lot of Leavin'
  6. Roller Coaster
  7. We Weren't Born to Follow
  8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  9. We Got It Goin' On
  10. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  11. It's My Life
  12. We Don't Run

  16. Lay Your Hands On Me
  17. Born To Be My Baby
  18. Have a Nice Day
  19. Bad Medicine
  20. Keep The Faith

    Encore:
  21. I Got The Girl
  22. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
  23. Wanted Dead or Alive
  24. Livin' On a Prayer

We got arguably the first big surprise of the tour in "I Got the Girl". Jon's daughter Stephanie, whom the song was written about, was at the show, and Jon got her up on stage to dance.

Bon Jovi in Oklahoma City 21/2/17

Bon Jovi brought their This House Is Not For Sale Tour to Oklahoma on February 21. Here's what was played:

Set list: Oklahoma City, OK, USA - Chesapeake Energy Arena - 21 February 2017

  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love A Bad Name
  4. Lost Highway
  5. Whole Lot of Leavin'
  6. Roller Coaster
  7. We Weren't Born to Follow
  8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  9. We Got It Goin' On
  10. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  11. It's My Life
  12. We Don't Run
  13. God Bless This Mess
  14. Scars on This Guitar
  15. The Devil's in the Temple
  16. Lay Your Hands On Me
  17. Born to Be My Baby
  18. Have A Nice Day
  19. Bad Medicine
  20. Keep The Faith

    Encore:
  21. Because We Can
  22. Wanted Dead Or Alive
  23. Livin' On A Prayer

According to a fan in attendance, Jon stuffed up "Bad Medicine":
They restarted the song, by the way.

As for the set list... I know Jon tends to string together "boring" sets in many cities in North America (which kind of punishes diehard American fans for the "sins" of casual fans, but that's a whole other story). The fact remains that we've only heard 29 songs over the course of eight shows on this tour so far. And I can't believe "Because We Can" is an encore song now, lol. "Work for the Working Man" (which I don't mind but most fans seem to hate) did get dropped though. 😉

Since I'm yet to find any complete videos from the 2017 OKC show, I thought I'd share one from the previous Bon Jovi concert there. It was also at Chesapeake Arena, on the Because We Can Tour. The date was 16 March 2013... which would turn out to be Richie Sambora's second last gig with Bon Jovi.

This is "Always" from 2013. Hopefully it reappears on the THINFS Tour soon:

UPDATE 23/2/17:
Videos from Oklahoma City

A few vids from the 2017 show have now been uploaded.

This is a great video (in terms of image and sound quality) of "Scars on This Guitar":

Here's "Livin' on a Prayer":

Bon Jovi in St. Louis 19/2/17

After playing in Nashville the day before, Bon Jovi headed to St. Louis for the next show of the This House Is Not For Sale Tour. Here's what was played:

  8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  9. We Got It Goin' On
  10. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  11. It's My Life

  13. God Bless This Mess
  14. Scars On This Guitar

Bon Jovi in Nashville 18/2/17

Bon Jovi headed to Nashville as they continued their This House Is Not For Sale Tour. Hugh McDonald's stepson Jake Johnson was the opening act, while Bon Jovi reportedly set an attendance record for the venue.

Here's what they played:

Set list: Nashville, TN, USA - Bridgestone Arena - 18 February 2017
  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love a Bad Name
  4. Lost Highway
  5. Whole Lot of Leavin'
  6. Roller Coaster
  7. Work for the Working Man
  8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  9. We Got It Going On
  10. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  11. It's My Life
  12. We Don't Run
  13. God Bless This Mess
  14. Scars on This Guitar
  15. The Devil's in the Temple
  16. Lay Your Hands On Me
  17. Born To Be My Baby
  18. Have a Nice Day
  19. Bad Medicine
  20. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  21. Blood on Blood
  22. Because We Can
  23. Wanted Dead or Alive
  24. Livin' on a Prayer

I was kind of expecting "I Love This Town" given the song is supposed to be about Nashville, although I'm not exactly crying that it wasn't played. I was, however, hoping for "Always" or "Bed of Roses", both of which were played in Nashville on the Because We Can Tour.

Here's Jon talking about the stories behind the album and some of their other songs, before performing "God Bless This Mess":

This is "Whole Lot of Leavin'" from Nashville:

Bon Jovi in Birmingham 16/2/17

Bon Jovi continued their This House Is Not For Sale Tour with a trip to Birmingham, Alabama for the first time since the New Jersey Tour, if I'm not mistaken.

Here's what was played in 2017:

Set list: Birmingham, AL, USA - Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex - 16 February 2017

  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love a Bad Name
  4. Lost Highway
  5. Whole Lot of Leavin'
  6. Roller Coaster
  7. Work for the Working Man
  8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  9. We Got it Going On
  10. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  11. It's My Life
  12. We Don't Run
  13. God Bless This Mess
  14. Scars on This Guitar
  15. The Devil's in the Temple
  16. Lay Your Hands On Me
  17. Blood on Blood
  18. Have a Nice Day
  19. Bad Medicine
  20. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  21. Born To Be My Baby
  22. Wanted Dead or Alive
  23. Livin' on a Prayer

I was happy to see "We Weren't Born to Follow" dropped for reasons previously stated, but it's still not a terribly exciting set on paper. I do hope Jon stands his ground and keeps playing lots of songs from This House Is Not For Sale... though I feel like they could've rotated through the entire album by now instead of only playing the same few songs. (They repeated the live listening party four times so it's not like they haven't performed the other tracks before.)

Here's a video of "Born to Be My Baby":

UPDATE 20/2/17: Here's a video of Jon exchanging some banter with the crowd before the band plays "The Devil's in the Temple":

Bon Jovi in Tampa 14/2/17

Bon Jovi headed to Tampa, Florida for Valentine's Day on their This House Is Not For Sale Tour. I'm a bit disappointed there was no love song for the occasion -- like "Always" or "Bed of Roses"... or even "Real Love", which is easier on Jon's voice and has the benefit of promoting the current album. I don't expect Bon Jovi to be Bruce Springsteen, but the Tampa set list is exactly the same as what was played in Atlanta a few days ago...

Set list: Tampa, FL, USA - Amalie Arena - 14 February 2017
  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love A Bad Name
  4. Born To Be My Baby
  5. We Weren't Born To Follow
  6. Lost Highway
  7. Roller Coaster
  8. Work For The Working Man
  9. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  10. We Got It Goin' On
  11. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  12. It's My Life
  13. We Don't Run
  14. God Bless This Mess
  15. Scars on This Guitar
  16. The Devil's in the Temple
  17. Lay Your Hands On Me
  18. Blood on Blood
  19. Have a Nice Day
  20. Bad Medicine
  21. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  22. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
  23. Wanted Dead or Alive
  24. Livin' on a Prayer
Here's Jon talking about old radio stations before kissing a woman in the crowd:

And a video of "Scars on this Guitar", which I guess is technically a love song, albeit to a guitar. While I like the song, I think my favourite part of the video was watching Everett Bradley in the background 😜:

Bon Jovi in Sunrise 12/2/17

The next official stop on the This House Is Not For Sale Tour was Sunrise, Florida. But between the last show and this one, Bon Jovi did a Runaway Tours gig in Fort Lauderdale. During the Q&A in Fort Lauderdale, it was revealed that we can expect tour dates in Canada later this year, and other countries in 2018. (Extra time to save money, folks. 😉)

Here's what was played in Sunrise:

Set list: Sunrise, FL, USA - BB&T Center - 12 February 2017

  1. This House is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love a Bad Name
  4. Born To Be My Baby
  5. We Weren't Born To Follow
  6. Lost Highway
  7. Work for the Working Man
  8. Roller Coaster
  9. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  10. We Got it Goin' On
  11. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  12. It's My Life
  13. We Don't Run
  14. God Bless This Mess
  15. Scars on this Guitar
  16. New Year's Day
  17. Lay Your Hands On Me
  18. Blood on Blood
  19. Have a Nice Day
  20. Bad Medicine
  21. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  22. Someday I'll be Saturday Night
  23. Wanted Dead or Alive
  24. Livin' on a Prayer
After previously being touted as a possible show opener, "New Year's Day" made its tour debut. Also, Jon really really really likes "Working Man". (I actually don't mind it, despite the hate it gets from most fans, but as I've said in the past, I would much prefer to hear "Love's the Only Rule" from that album.)

Here's a video featuring part of "We Don't Run", all of "God Bless This Mess", and part of "Scars on this Guitar", as well as Jon talking about the album:

"You Give Love a Bad Name":

"It's My Life":

Bon Jovi in Atlanta 10/2/17

Bon Jovi headed to Atlanta, Georgia for their second show of the This House Is Not For Sale Tour. The set list was similar, though not exactly the same, as that of the opening night in Greenville. "Because We Can" got dropped (hopefully forever) but so did "Always" (unfortunately).

Set list: Atlanta, GA, USA - Philips Arena - 10 February 2017
  1. This House Is Not For Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love A Bad Name
  4. Born To Be My Baby
  5. We Weren't Born To Follow
  6. Lost Highway
  7. Roller Coaster
  8. Work For The Working Man
  9. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
  10. We Got It Goin' On
  11. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  12. It's My Life
  13. We Don't Run
  14. God Bless This Mess
  15. Scars On This Guitar
  16. The Devil's In The Temple
  17. Lay Your Hands On Me
  18. Blood On Blood
  19. Have A Nice Day
  20. Bad Medicine
  21. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  22. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
  23. Wanted Dead Or Alive
  24. Livin' On A Prayer
Here's "Livin' on a Prayer" from this concert:

Like the Greenville show, there's been a lack of decent YouTube videos from Atlanta. I'm guessing that people who might be inclined to take videos have been live streaming instead. I prefer not to use up my battery and data that way, but that's just me.

UPDATE 14/2/17: "Blood on Blood" from this show is now on YouTube. It includes Jon kissing Phil X after the latter messed up:

Phil went on to explain this moment on Instagram:

Fan-made video for Living with the Ghost

When Bon Jovi's music video for "Living with the Ghost" was released in January, I was one of many fans who expressed disappointment in it. Not because I oppose its message, but because the song is about Richie Sambora's departure, and it feels disingenuous to suddenly pretend it's about Camden.

One fan decided to do something about it, creating an alternative video for "Living with the Ghost". It uses the footage of Jon lip syncing in the original video, with clips from other band videos.

Check out Guilherme's alternate version of "Living with the Ghost" on YouTube:

What do you think of this fan-made video?

Bon Jovi in Greenville 8/2/17

Bon Jovi kicked off their This House Is Not For Sale Tour in Greenville, South Carolina. In case you missed the promo shows, the new look touring lineup is as follows:

  • Jon Bon Jovi on lead vocals (obviously)
  • David Bryan on keyboards
  • Tico Torres on drums
  • Hugh McDonald on bass (finally "official" after more than two decades)
  • Phil X on guitar (also elevated to "official" member
  • John Shanks on guitar (a somewhat controversial move after a decade of mixed feelings from fans about his producing skills)
  • Everett Bradley on percussion
Tour photographer David Bergman shot this video as the band was heading to South Carolina. (It was also Dave Bryan's birthday).

Here's what was played at the concert:

Set list: Greenville, SC, USA - Bon Secours Wellness Arena - 8 February 2017

  1. This House is Not for Sale
  2. Knockout
  3. You Give Love a Bad Name
  4. Born To Be My Baby
  5. We Weren't Born To Follow
  6. Lost Highway
  7. Roller Coaster
  8. Working Man for the Working Man
  9. Because We Can
  10. We Got It Goin' On
  11. Who Says You Can't Go Home
  12. It's My Life
  13. God Bless This Mess
  14. Scars on This Guitar
  15. The Devil's In the Temple
  16. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
  17. Blood on Blood
  18. Lay Your Hands on Me
  19. Have a Nice Day
  20. Bad Medicine
  21. Keep the Faith
    Encore:
  22. Always
  23. Wanted Dead or Alive
  24. Livin' on a Prayer
A few comments on the set list:
  • I love This House Is Not For Sale (the album) so I hope they keep playing lots of tracks from it. But it'd be better to spread them throughout the set instead of putting them in blocks (or as casual fans might call them, "bathroom/drinks breaks").
  • Speaking of new tracks, play "Living with the Ghost"!
  • I was hoping "We Weren't Born to Follow" would be dropped by now. And surely putting it next to "Born to be My Baby" only highlights the fact that they have the same chorus. "Love's the Only Rule" would be a better song to play from The Circle.
  • Why is "Because We Can" still being played? That singalong didn't work on the Because We Can Tour and it sure isn't going to work now.
Some people in attendance live streamed part or all of the show online, but I was at work and couldn't watch. There don't seem to be any videos on YouTube yet, but you can watch/listen to this Periscope stream (from "Roller Coaster" to part of "Have a Nice Day"). I'll update this post with a selection of videos if they pop up. Apparently Jon acknowledged his vocal troubles during the encore, saying he'd been working hard on it and his goal was to sing "Always" on the first night of the tour.

Were you at this show? Or are you going to any of the other dates that have been announced of this tour?

UPDATE 11/2/17: I've been surprised by the lack of quality videos from this show, but some soundboard recordings (audio only) have been uploaded on YouTube.

"Always" -- I think Jon sounds decent in parts... not anywhere near his best obviously, and not at Lost Highway Tour level... but better than he's sounded in the last three or four years. I hope he's got a vocal coach because I don't believe it's too late to get his voice back, but it'll take time and work.

"Lay Your Hands on Me" -- This made a return after not been performed at all on the Because We Can or Burning Bridges Tours, and I'm glad it did.
