Rock Hall snub + new New Year's Eve trailer

Last year Bon Jovi was surprisingly nominated for the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and unsurprisingly not inducted.

This year, they have not been nominated at all. The 2012 nominees are:
  • Beastie Boys

  • The Cure

  • Donovan

  • Eric B. & Rakim

  • Guns N' Roses

  • Heart

  • Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

  • Freddie King

  • Laura Nyro

  • Red Hot Chilli Peppers

  • Rufus with Chaka Khan

  • The Small Faces/The Faces

  • The Spinners

  • Donna Summer

  • War

  • I recommend we all get used to this. Bon Jovi might be inducted someday but it won't be anytime soon.

Whatever... the Rock Hall's for music snobs anyway. :P

In other news, another trailer for Jon's upcoming film New Year's Eve has been released.

The first trailer can be found at this link.

    Bobby Bandiera at benefit concert

Bobby's playing a charity gig tonight.
Eight-year Bon Jovi guitar player Bobby Bandiera will take the stage at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 4 p.m. for a benefit for Alternatives for Children, a pre-school for developmentally delayed children.

Bandiera’s grandson, Mateo, of East Quogue, is a student at the school’s Southampton location and has a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD-NOS).

    Bandiera's son also has autism.

“I am fortunate enough to have a very talented musician for a father,” said Bandiera's daughter, Carli Bandiera Rodriguez, who added she didn’t have to do much except make a phone call to get her dad, who lives in New Jersey, to do the concert.

New Year's Eve featurette + MDA Telethon interview

Here's the official featurette for New Year's Eve, Jon Bon Jovi's upcoming movie.

Still not sure what to make of it; it's one of those concepts that could be either good or awful. I just hope it's better than Jon's last few movies.

Meanwhile, here's an interview that Entertainment Tonight did with Richie Sambora backstage from the MDA Telethon.

    Remembering 9/11: America the Beautiful

This video of Jon Bon Jovi performing America the Beautiful at a New York City fire station was shot as part of NBC's NFL Kickoff 2011: Back to Football tribute to September 11 victims.

It was a semi-recreation of a video that aired 10 years ago.

What Do You Got alternative version

There's an alternative version of What Do You Got floating around. It seems to be some kind of demo or remix.

Bon Jovi - What Do You Got by UMPG

    What do you think?

Here's the normal version for easy comparison.

    Richie Sambora at MDA Telethon

Richie performed at the MDA Labor Day Telethon... Here are some videos.

Acoustic Livin' on a Prayer and It's My Life featuring Hugh McDonald and Lorenza Ponce.

A brief interview in which Richie mentions working on a solo record and Bon Jovi record. I'd love a solo album from him but we've heard that one before.

Bongiovi DPS (Digital Power Station) app

Just stumbled across this review for an app from Bongiovi Acoustics, whose managing director is Tony Bongiovi (aka Jon Bon Jovi's second cousin who ran the Power Station Studios).
The purpose behind DPS lies in the contradiction between convenience and quality. The advent of the MP3 may have miniaturized music to a level that made entire collections portable, but it did so at the expense of audio quality. This is why you’d be hard-pressed to find a true audiophile even consider listening to a compressed digital file.

DPS acts as a replacement to the iPod app on your iOS device in that you can access all your songs, playlists, podcasts and even videos. The only caveat is that you can’t play any songs you bought off iTunes that are still DRM-protected. When playing a song, you’ll notice the button right below the playback bar.

When blue, the DPS goes to work in analyzing the signal to optimize the bass and highs and create a fuller sound. Even the mids get some treatment, and what you feel is music that “pops out” more at you. Press the blue button, turning it white, and the DPS enhancer turns off.

    Project Richie

When the Bon Jovi tour is over, one of the points of focus becomes each member's side projects. Like, are we going to get any solo albums? Apparently our Mr. Bluesman Richie Sambora mentioned a solo album during his live webcast with Nikki Lund but I missed it and some people commented that it he may have just said it to appease everyone.

I could crack my favourite North Korean Democracy joke but I already did that 2+ years ago. Richie did say something about writing new songs when he dropped by Norman's Rare Guitars recently so I guess we'll have to wait and see what (if anything) comes of that.

Speaking of Richie and Nikki, they'll be performing together at the Rock Fashion show and debuting their new line NikkiRich. The show will take place at Station Hollywood on Wednesday, October 5 and you can get tickets here with proceeds going to charity.
